Association hopes to aim for a meaningful integration of the disabled by
means of proper housing. A different alternative should be created.to family
housing (where there are problems caused by living with a disabled person)
and to state homes for disabled people (where sheer numbers do not allow
for any integration in society). |

| The
way forward is the creation of flats either managed by the disabled themselves
, or with support, should the above-mentioned option not be viable. In these
flats the necessary material and personal aid is provided, the disabled
person would however collaborate with part of their salary or pension. |

| The
Association is establishing the contacts and the administrative procedures
necessary to realize this project. The following steps have already been
taken in the Community of Madrid, this being the region where the majority
of the current members live. It would be very interesting to know about
other similar initiatives, nationally and internationally and to be able
to share experiences: |

(IMSERSO). |

Presentation
of the forms for adapted housing in the latest round of applications at
the Local Housing Department. |

Meetings held with the highest authorities responsible for Social Services
in the Community of Madrid. |

Presentation of a housing application form in the Housing Department (IVIMA). |
